About A. Rae Pittman, LPC

Therapy and neurofeedback training for women & femmes in-person in Little Rock and online.

Hi, I'm Rae Pittman! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Trained Neurofeedback Provider who works with women and femmes who feel like they’re always the overwhelmed oddball out. My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed and depressed and start guiding you to where things feel manageable again.

My Journey To Becoming A Counselor

I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I'm human. I've been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.

Initially drawn to this career because of my own trauma history, I discovered after becoming a therapist that I'd felt comfortable with my autistic/ADHD friends because I too shared those identities. I had gone over 30 years (including a few as a therapist) without an accurate understanding of myself! Using a neurodiversity-affirming approach for my own life has brought tremendous healing and freedom, more than I've experienced with any other approach or treatment. My special interest has become tailoring mental health support to be as effective as possible not only for neurodivergent people but also for the people who love us.

My life experiences are what led me to become the therapist I am today.

Helping People Gives My Life Meaning

Being a therapist is an honor. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and seeing them finally getting the life they desire. The most rewarding thing about being a counselor is seeing a person walk away lighter, more free, and excited about their life. I am committed to guiding you to where things feel manageable again.

I Have A Genuine Interest In Others And Bring Warmth And Understanding To Sessions

I have a natural ability to:

  • Understand people's experiences
  • Uncover what's under the surface
  • Explain mental health symptoms in an easy to understand way
  • Accept people for who they are and in their current life circumstances

People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can help people through difficult and stressful times.

Our Sessions Are Focused On You

Sessions will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. You'll be able to gain clarity and be understood and heard.

It's important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and stay open to any feedback and questions you may have. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy and neurofeedback. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies

  • I believe empathy can change the world.
  • I believe you are worthy of love and care.
  • I believe you are strong enough to be present with what you may be going through.
  • I believe we have a body and nervous system designed to handle the discomfort of doing hard things (like going to therapy and making lasting changes).
  • I believe people underestimate their ability to change. It's possible to change: it's possible to enjoy life again.
  • I believe therapy's true goal is liberation for all.

My Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and afterwards achieved my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I hold an independent license (LPC) in the state of Arkansas. I completed my neurofeedback training in February 2022 through EEGer. I am also a voluntary member of the International Society for Neuroregulation and Research. I am currently working towards my Biofeedback Certification Interational Alliance (BCIA) certification in neurofeedback.
